A Woodland Reccy (part one)

Its 12th February 2022, Im itching for the spring to get here, I want to start my outdoor adventures, Im looking for some potential spots to set up a wildcamp for a night or even two.

In 2021 whilst out canoeing, i had spied a woodland that was starting to get cut back on the edges as it was getting close to the riverbank and this area stuck in my mind.

I got up early, nice cup of tea, put on some warm trousers, got my boots, my british army smock with a fleece underneath, grabbed my bag with drink making facilities and camera equipment and set off to explore this woodland.

I had previously looked on google maps to see if i could identify how big and dense this area was and it did give me a good idea of its size, i guessed it was going to be a bit soft underfoot as there are a lot of lakes in this area.

Charlie came with me, although he is getting on a bit now and struggled a bit with Hilly parts.

Once at this woodland we had a good look around, I noticed what i thought might be a badger set so i made sure i kept clear of this area, there were loads of potential spots arouns with fallen leaves on the floor, still crunching underfoot, I could feel a bit of excitement as id found somewhere where i could set up a camp for the night to spend my first solo wildcamp and its only about 30 minutes walk from home and has the potential for me to canoe to this location which will be amazing.

I took a seat on a log, made a nice cup of coffee and just sat looking around and thinking how lucky i am to have areas such as this on my doorstep.

I want somewhere where i can relax with my thoughts, stress free environment, practice some bushcraft skills and maybe do a bit of cooking.

So please join me on my adventures, check out my youtube channel where i will upload videos of my adventures.
